At low volumes, I find that on certain music styles I'll turn it up past 12:00. People complain about the digital reverb on the 10 being too much, but it's really not. But with every other drummer I've played with, it has more than enough volume. The 10 was on the verge of not being loud enough. The other day I was jamming with a very powerful drummer and felt the 15 kept up with him more comfortably. So if a lower volume amp is what you're after, it the 10 all the way. The 10 sounds "warmer" at lower volumes, and I think this is due to the proximity of the speaker to the back of the cabinet. They have a very similar tone when cranked (to me, anyway). I really don't know which one I would pick if I could only keep one. But to me, when weighing all the pros and cons, it's almost more of a crossgrade. I wouldn't necessarily agree or disagree. So I'd say the AC15 is far more versatile. So with the AC15 you get an amp that (albeit heavy for its wattage) is totally appropriate for home use but also has enough power to play band jams and club gigs if necessary. I can't imagine the AC10 holding up in a band context. THEN, 4 weeks later I found a hardwired Heritage AC15 and it blew away the other one, so I bought it too, traded the AC15CC1X for a Gretsch 5120 with TV Jones pups, and the hardwired AC15 is now my number 1.Įven with an AC15, I find that playing at band levels you are usually going to be playing overdriven rather than clean because that's where the volume needs to be to cut through. Then I tried an AC15CC1x with Celestion Blue speaker and loved it, so I bought it. So I tried an AC15C1 with greenback and liked it a lot. I liked it a lot, and the price was right, but if I ever wanted to play with a band I didn't think the AC10 was going to cut it. I'm on an AC15 kick right now, but it started with my playing an AC10 at the local music store.
